Mister Wayne, a godly man, beloved husband, father and grandfather, beauty industry icon, dreamer, one-of-a-kind original, mentor to and influencer of thousands of students went to be with his Lord on Monday December 8, 2014 at 9:07 am at his home. He was surrounded by his adoring family. A life celebration service for Charles Wayne Fletcher, 70, of Cookeville, will be held Friday December 12 at 11am at Cookeville First Baptist Church. Dr. Jonathan Nelms and Pastor Paul Hoffman will officiate. Private family burial will follow at Wesley Chapel Cemetery in Viola, TN. Mister Wayne's family will gather to receive friends Thursday from 4pm until 8pm at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home and again Friday from 10am until service time at the church He was born October 6, 1944 in Sparta, TN to the late Frank Leonard and Mattie Edna Hall Fletcher. He was a 1962 graduate of White County High School and proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy. Mister Wayne's dream became reality in December of 1979 when he and his wife Melissa opened Mister Wayne's Beauty and Barber School. His warm, inviting, funny and always positive nature created a family like environment at the school. A tough and disciplined teacher, he taught his students to be professional, successful, and self-sufficient by repeating his mantra: Look the part, Act the part, Be the part- Perform! He was a member of Cookeville First Baptist Church since 1979 and attended Covenant Church for the past three years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Johnny and Kenneth Fletcher. His legacy includes his wife of 35 years, Melissa Elledge Fletcher (whom he married July 1, 1979); four daughters, Deanna (Biff) Anderson of Athens, AL, Debbie Fletcher Dalton, Kristen (Paul) Hoffman, and Brittany (Cody) Elmore, all of Cookeville; seven grandchildren, Kyra Anderson, Cole Anderson, Fletcher Dalton, Thomas Wayne Dalton, Mattie Neoshia Dalton, Addison Hoffman and Wesley Hoffman; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 753 Humble Drive, Cookeville, TN 38501.
