Mike Flatt

A celebration of life service for Mr. Michael Wesley Flatt, Sr, age 70, of Cookeville, will be held Friday, March 8th at 1 p.m., at the Cookeville chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Cookeville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 4 until 7 p.m. and again Friday from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Mike died Monday, March 4, 2019. He was born March 18, 1948 in Knoxville to the late Wesley P. Flatt, Jr. and Mary Nell Summitt Flatt. Mike was a graduate of the class of 1966 (the last graduating class of Central High School). He then left for the military. He did two tours in Vietnam with the Army. He had 2 purple hearts and a bronze star. He loved history and reading. Mike is remembered by his family as being ready for a good laugh and always being able to count on him. He is survived by sons, Michael Wesley Flatt, Jr. of Naples, FL and Wesley Flatt of Cookeville; sisters, Jeanne Flatt and husband Wayne Winton of Cookeville and Joy Kelly and husband William ‘Tinker' Kelly of Nashville; brothers, Steve Flatt and Wes Flatt, both of Cookeville; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Officiating will be Jonathan Nelms and Dave Bethel. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Memorial contributions may be made to Power of Putnam, 25 W Broad St., Cookeville, TN 38501.
