Michael Wayne Odum

July 3, 1983 — December 29, 2023

A memorial service for Michael Wayne Odum, 40 of Cookeville, will be held Saturday, January 20, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Hendersonville Church of Christ, 107 Rockland Rd. Hendersonville, TN 37075. His family will receive friends Saturday from 12:00 pm until service time at the church.


Michael passed away Friday, December 29, 2023 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.


Michael graduated from Hendersonville High School in 2001. Employed with Hi-Tech Systems in Hendersonville, TN for nearly 9 years as the Eastern Regional Operations Manager. Michael was a loyal fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Boston Red Sox. He was able to live out a lifelong dream in 2017 when he visited his beloved Fenway Park to experience the iconic "Big Green Monster" that he had yearned to see for so many years.


Michael had a passion for music of all genres keeping old favorites in his playlist while always on the lookout for the next new song to blast throughout the house. You knew Michael was thinking of you when he text you a link to his new favorite song wanting to know if you loved it as much as he did.. Concerts were a huge part of his life. Whether it was a date night with Chelsey or a night out with friends, chances are he would be somewhere watching one of his favorite bands.


Michael's love for baseball started as a kid, playing in the Hendersonville Little League. As a father, that love continued as he coached many of his son, Dominic's, seasons over the past 7 years with Malcom at every game cheering on his dad and brother.


Michael adored his boys, 11 year old Dominic and 4 year old Malcom. They both shared a beautiful bond with their dad and will cherish all of the good memories they had with him.


Michael was preceded in death by his mother, Terri (Susie) Karns of Hendersonville, TN; paternal grandparents Cecil and Virginia Odum of Jacksonville Beach, FL; maternal grandparents Pete and Pat Heck of Indianapolis, In and Curt Cooper, father in law of Cookeville, TN.


Michael is survived by his wife, Chelsey Odum and sons Dominic and Malcom of Cookeville, TN; his father Wayne Odum, step mother Shawn of Madison, TN; sisters Jessica Temple and her husband Langton of Hendersonville, TN, Maggie Odum of Madison, TN and Jennifer Thompson of Fernandina Beach, FL' mother in law Sonya Cooper and husband Randy of Cookeville, TN; mother in law Kim Cooper of Cookeville, TN; sister in law Bethany Beasley and husband Ben of Cookeville, TN; brother in law Curtis Cooper and wife Stephanie of Knoxville, TN; brother in law Cody Cooper and wife Ashley of Maryville, TN; brother in law Rusty (Jacob) Cooper and wife Kaley of Colorado Springs, CO; sister in law Emmie Cooper of Summerville, SC; sister in law Gracie Cooper of Cookeville, TN; 15 nieces and nephews that loved their uncle so very much.


Donations in lieu of flowers can be made in honor of Michael for Dominic and Malcom's college fund.
