Michael Hall

November 19, 1954 — September 11, 2024

Michael Gene Hall, known affectionately as Mike or Mackie to his friends and family, passed away on September 11, 2024, at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Born on November 19, 1954, in Monterey, Tennessee, Mike’s journey through life was marked by his warm presence, his love for sports, and the deep bonds he shared with his family and friends.

Mike was a proud graduate of Monroe Central High School and furthered his education by attending Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. Mike was employed by John Hall Construction in Sparta, Tennessee. Mike was known for his strong work ethic and his ability to engage with customers and coworkers and loved the construction business. In his personal life, Mike was an avid sports fan, with a particular passion for college football. His love of reading led to his knowledge on a wide array of subjects and made him a great conversationalist, capable of holding his own in discussions with anyone he met.

Mike cherished his family deeply, especially his nieces and nephews, whom he loved as if they were his own children. He played an active role in their lives, guiding them with his wisdom and supporting them in their endeavors. His presence in their lives will be profoundly missed but fondly remembered.

He is survived by his sisters , Mary Lou Wells, Velma (Keith) Chesser, Lisa Kirby, and Anita (Royce) Slaven and sister in law Judy Hall.

Mike is also survived by his nephews John (Kassidy) Slaven and Duane Hall, nieces English Chesser, Sherril (Jason) Pippin and Beverly Wells (Donnie ) Janice Hall and grand nephews Brandon Swartz, Ian Goode, Josh and Jacob Boleware. Also family Roscoe (Nicole) Hart, Deedee, Sherry and Michael Hart.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie Hall and Juanita McDonald Hall, and his brothers, Tommy, James, Waymon John Allen, and John Hall and nephew Jason Hall. His departure reunites him with his beloved family members who have passed before him, and we take comfort in knowing that he is at peace.

Those who knew Mike appreciated his boisterous hellos and engaging spirit. A memorial service to celebrate Mike’s life will be held at 3 pm on Sunday, September 15, at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Friends and family are invited to gather and share memories during the visitation from 1-3 pm before the service. Mike will be laid to rest at a later date, in a private ceremony with his family at Campground Cemetery in Clarkrange, Tennessee.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the ICU nursing staff at Cookeville Regional Medical Center for their compassionate care and support during Mike’s final days. Their dedication to his comfort and well-being was a source of great solace to his loved ones.
