Michael Bruno

A celebration of life service for Mr. Michael Bruno, age 75 of Cookeville, will be held Thursday, January 13th at 5:00 p.m. at The River Community Church. Pastor Steve Tiebout will officiate. A fellowship meal will follow the service at the church. His family will receive friends Thursday from 3:30 p.m. until service time at the church. Michael died Sunday January 2, 2022 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born July 4, 1946 in San Francisco, CA to the late Uray O'Brien and Irene Renney. Michael worked in the printing industry as a lithographer. He also served as a hospital chaplain and was an elder at New Hope Church while living in California. He and his wife moved to Cookeville to assist in the formation of The River Community Church. Displaying his spiritual gifting of ministry and compassion, Michael has served in various roles in the church including as a staff member, in the care and deacon ministries, and participated in church mission trips to Africa and Vietnam, among others. He enjoyed time spent outdoors fishing and camping. Mr. is survived by his wife of nearly 30 years, Karen Lee Thomas Bruno; sister, Dale England of Lincoln, California; nieces, Laurene Nicole and Fortune Romero; nephew, David England; and cousins, Joan Porter, Susan and Judiann Harthun and Alan Harthun.
