Merry Ruth Johnson

July 9, 1963 — August 22, 2024

Merry Ruth Johnson, a beacon of warmth and joy, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2024, at the age of 61 in Nashville, Tennessee. Born on July 9, 1963, in Newark, Ohio, Merry lived a life full of love, family, and a passion for the simple pleasures that make life beautiful.

Merry's journey began as a cherished daughter in Newark, where she attended Garfield Elementary and Heath High School, forming lifelong friendships and laying the foundation for her future. After completing her education, she embarked on a fulfilling career in the healthcare field, where she held various administrative positions. Her dedication and compassionate nature made her a beloved figure among her colleagues and those she served.

In 1992, Merry married the love of her life, Kirk Johnson, in a union that was a testament to enduring love and partnership. Together, they built a life in Gainesboro, Tennessee, where they raised a family that was the center of Merry's world. She was a devoted mother to her son, Tyler Johnson of Knoxville, TN, and her daughters, Jodi (Justin) Forsten of Lampasas, TX, and Miranda (Robert) Hronetz of Cookeville, TN. Merry's role as a mother was one she cherished deeply, and her guidance and support shaped the lives of her children in countless ways.

Merry's love extended to her siblings, Ralph Evans of Ohio, David Evans of Idaho, and Linda Wieringa of Ohio, with whom she shared an unbreakable bond. Her family was her pride and joy, and this joy multiplied with the arrival of her grandchildren, Collins, Colton, and Liam. Merry embraced her role as a grandmother with open arms, and her grandchildren will carry the memory of her love and laughter with them always.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Mary Louden Evans.

A woman of many interests, Merry found pleasure in the simple things. She was an avid antiquer, always on the hunt for hidden treasures and stories from the past. Her love for bird watching reflected her appreciation for nature's beauty and the tranquility it provided. Merry's love for her grandchildren was unparalleled, and she cherished every moment spent with them. She was also a fervent supporter of the University of Tennessee Football, cheering on her team with the same enthusiasm she brought to every aspect of her life.

Merry Ruth Johnson's legacy is one of love, kindness, and the joy of living a life filled with purpose and passion. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her spirit will continue to inspire and guide us. As we say goodbye to Merry, we celebrate a life well-lived and a heart that was truly full.
