Melissa Young

BAXTER-Melissa Dawn Young, was born on December 31, 1977, passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2024 at the age of 46.

Melissa is survived by her son Jayce Michael Young of Cookeville, TN, her mother Edith Ealey (Clyde Cunningham, Jr.) of the Boma Community, 3 sisters Traci Lane (Andy), Leslie Egerton (Jimmy) and Allie C. Ealey, 3 aunts Golda Binkley, Maelene Webb and Terri Young all of the Dodson Branch Community of Jackson County, nephew Caleb Grider, nieces Maddy Riser (Rutger), Emery Ann and Charley Marie Egerton.

Melissa has a host of cousins including Tony Young, Cristie Taylor, Tena Lynn, Kevin Young, Phillip Young, Angie Young, Melanie Hammons, Rob Franklin, Cassey Webb, Michael Webb and Holly Hunter, who she loved like a sister.

Melissa's love for family was evident in the special bond she shared with her "Pa" Bill that was supported throughout her life.

Her life was a journey of resilience, love and a unwavering spirit.

Melissa was preceded in death by her father, James "Jimmy" Michael Young, grandparents Joe L. and Edna Loftis Young of the Dodson Branch Community and Bill and Kathryn Coffelt Ealey of Cookeville, TN.

She worked in the Food Service Industry until her cancer diagnosis.

Memorial graveside services will be held Sunday, June 2 at 4 PM at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Baxter. Chaplain Will Turner and Bro. Tim Sharp will officiate.

There will be no visitation at the funeral home, everyone will meet at the cemetery for the service.
