Funeral services for Melanie Ruth Cameron, 60, of Cookeville will be held Wednesday, December 28 at 1 p.m. in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home with Rev. Tracy Gross officiating. Mrs. Cameron died Thursday morning, December 22, 2011 at her home. She was born March 2, 1951 in Riverside, California to Mrs. Mavis Hooton Harrell of Nashville, GA and the late Franklin Harrell. Mrs. Cameron was a resident of Nashville, GA and moved to Cookeville in 1971 and resided here for the remainder of her life as a mother and homemaker. She loved her children dearly and was very involved in their school functions and extra-curricular activities. She was active in dancing, gardening, and crafts. She loved music and even wrote and performed some of her own songs. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by an infant sister. Mrs. Cameron is survived by in addition to her mother, a son, Tim Rodgers and wife, Melissa of Thompson Station, TN; daughter, Lindsey Cameron Gross and husband, Brandon of Cookeville, three grandchildren, Hunter Rodgers, Keaton Rodgers, and Aubrey Rodgers, three brothers, Carl Harrell, Paul (Kathy) Harrell and Greg (Sherry) Harrell and a sister, Heather Walker all of Nashville, GA. Mrs. Cameron family will receive friends Tuesday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. and Wednesday from 12 noon until service time at the funeral home.
