Maudie Farris

Funeral services for Mrs. Maudie Pippin Farris, age 93, of Cookeville, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday December 21 at Willow Avenue Church of Christ with Jeremiah Tatum officiating. Interment will follow in the Cunningham Cemetery. Her family will receive friends at the church Friday from 4 - 8 p.m. and again Saturday from 9 a.m. until service time. Mrs. Farris passed away suddenly Wednesday December 18, 2019 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born February 14, 1926 in Cookeville, TN to the late Emory Thomas Pippin and Mallie Frances Welch Pippin. Mrs. Farris was a member of Willow Avenue Church of Christ. She loved worship services. She was a wonderful homemaker. She formerly worked at the Cookeville Shirt Company and retired from custodial services at Tennessee Tech University. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her father and mother-in-law, Lemon and Nancy Bell Cunningham Farris; three sisters, Milta Vaughn, Mona Benson, and Mintie Newcomer; four brothers, Flaskie Pippin, Thomas Woodfork Pippin, Freelon Pippin and Emery "Sonny" Pippin. She is survived by her husband of 73 years, Fred Farris, whom she married October 10, 1946; son, Royce Farris (wife, Carol) of Sparta; Floyd Farris of Cookeville; three sisters, Mammie Chaffin and Margie Dyer both of Cookeville, Hazel Jackson of West Bloomfield, MI; three grandchildren, Wayne Farris, Jacoby Farris (wife, Melissa), and Cameron Farris; four great-grandchildren, Hayden, Mikaela, Landon, and Tyler Farris; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be friends and family. Memorial contributions may be made to Happy Haven Children's Home, 2311 Wakefield Drive, Cookeville, TN 38501.
