Mattie Hickey

Funeral services for Mrs. Mattie Jo Hickey, age 94, of Cookeville, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 19 at Dyer Funeral Home with Bro. Johnny Fox officiating. Interment will follow at Crest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 5 - 8 p.m. and again Sunday from 11 a.m. until service time. Mrs. Hickey passed away Friday morning March 17, 2017 at Signature Health Care of Putnam County. She was born August 22, 1922 in Granville, TN to the late Edward James and Sallie Mae Goodwin Eldridge. Mrs. Hickey was a member of Samaria Church of Christ. She was formerly employed at Wilson Sporting Goods with over 20 years of service. She enjoyed cooking and gardening, and was known for exceptional hand made quilts. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elzie Hickey; brother, James Floyd Eldridge; three sisters, Mary Frances Eldridge, Marie Eldridge, and Doris Whitaker. She is survived by two nieces, Gail (husband, Greg) Greene of Memphis; and Rhonda Wagner of Cookeville; five great nieces and nephews, Toni Wilkes, Ahndria (husband, Brad) Hoover, Bryan (wife, Alanna) Greene, Kristen Wagner, and Emily Wagner; great-great nieces and nephews, Courtney and James Wilkes, Nicholas and Jonathan Hoover, and Abigale Greene. Pallbearers will be Bryan Greene, Brad Hoover, Stephen Ward, Glen Tidwell, Kenny Stone, and Kaleb Knapp. Dyer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
