Funeral services for Mary Alice Isom Williams of Cookeville will be held Friday, August 19 at 10 a.m. in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home with Bro. Jeremiah Tatum officiating. Graveside services and interment will follow at 3 p.m. at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Nashville. The family will receive friends Thursday from 5-8 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. until service time. Mrs. Williams died Tuesday morning, August 16, 2011 at NHC of Cookeville. Mrs. Williams was born February 4, 1923 in Nashville, TN to the late Inez Woodlee Isom and Garland Curlee Isom. She was a member of Willow Avenue Church of Christ. She was a former member of the Gainesboro Church of Christ for over 25 years, Pelham Church of Christ and Athens Church of Christ for 37 years. Mrs. Williams grew up in Spencer, TN and graduated from Van Buren High School in 1941. She married her late husband Herbert L. (Dick) Williams on March 1, 1941. They celebrated their 70th anniversary this year, before Mr. Williams passing on March 6, 2011. Mrs. Williams worked as an Avon representative for 65 years. She also worked for Federal Crop Insurance in Athens, TN. After retirement Mary and Dick traveled to 33 countries, attended UT football games, also traveling to several UT Bowl games even as far as Hawaii. They also loved to spend summer vacation at Topsail, NC with their children and grandchildren. Mrs. Williams was a member of the Fort Blount Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution, Captain Sally Tompkins Chapter United Daughters of the Confederacy, and Upper Cumberland Chapter of the United States Daughters of 1812. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Marr and Joe Temples of Cookeville; daughter-in-law, Shirley Williams of Goldsboro, NC; sister-in-law, Addie Marr Glenn of Nashville; two granddaughters, Christy Morton (John) of Holly Springs, NC; Holly Rucker (Greg) of Apex, NC; four grandsons, Brad Williams (Vanessa) of Holly Springs, NC; Joe T. Temples, Jr (Angie) of Knoxville, Travis Temples (Brittany) of Nashville and Scott Temples of Cookeville; seven great grandchildren, Hunter, Cody, and Catilyn Morton, William and Mason Rucker, Chase and Owen Temples, and one nephew, Buddy Isom all of Nashville. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Dale Wilson Williams, brothers, Herman and Howard Isom, and sister-in-law, Lillian Isom. Pallbearers will be Mrs. Williams"� grandchildren.
