Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Elizabeth VanHooser Steward, 86 of Cleveland, TN and formerly of Cookeville will be held Sunday May 15 at 3 p.m. in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in John L. Clark Cemetery in Gainesboro. Rev. Mark Gaw and Rev. Joe Brooks will officiate. Mrs. Steward died Tuesday afternoon May 10, 2011 in Skyridge Medical Center in Cleveland. She was born August 28, 1924 in DeKalb County, Tennessee to the late Robert Fate and Lola Trobaugh Anderson. Mrs. Steward was a member of the Hilham Freewill Baptist Church and a homemaker. At the age of thirteen she went to live with the Nash family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two husbands, Billy VanHooser and Millard Steward; sister, Jean Anderson; and brother, Bob Anderson; and extended family members, Rev Oscar and Flora Nash, Leroy Nash, and Janice Dennis. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Helen & Jim Brooks; three grandchildren, Leann Brooks, David (Stephanie) Brooks, Danny (Lisa) Brooks; six grandchildren, Blake Buol, Lauren Buol, Matthew Brooks, Haley Brooks, Hannah Brooks, and Allison Brooks all of Cleveland; her extended family, James and Penny Nash, Marie and Charles McBride all of Nashville and Willene Ogle and Frances Nash both of Cookeville. Pallbearers will be Jim Brooks, David Brooks, Danny Brooks, Blake Buol, Virgil Moore, and Tony Wilson. Mrs. Steward"�s family will receive friends Saturday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
