Mary Qualls

COOKEVILLE CHAPEL-Mary Poteet Qualls, a beloved homemaker and cherished member of the Algood community, passed away on November 1, 2024, at the NHC of Cookeville, Tennessee. Born on August 8, 1931, in Overton County, Tennessee, she dedicated her life to loving her family and creating a warm home for them.

Mary is remembered for her sweet and kind personality. She was deeply devoted to her family, which included her sons, David Qualls and wife Sue, and Mark Qualls and wife Vicki. Mary took great pride in her grandchildren, Ryan and Rachel Qualls, and they were a significant source of joy in her life. She truly enjoyed her family reunions with her nephews and nieces; Sam and Marti Qualls, Bob and Judy Qualls, Mike and Susie Pennington, Max and Clara Qualls, Nic and Diane Wheeler, and Shelby Qualls.

In addition to her role as a wife and mother, Mary contributed to her community through her love of genealogy and participation in local historical societies. An avid traveler, she explored all 50 states and enjoyed Sunday afternoon drives that allowed her to appreciate the beauty of her surroundings.

Mary was also a proud member of the Algood Church of Christ, where she found a sense of belonging and purpose. Her faith was an essential part of her life and guided her interactions with others.

Mary is predeceased by her husband, Bryant Qualls; her parents, Richard and Susie Poteet; and her sister, Kathy Poteet. Their memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her.

The family wants to thank all the staff members at NHC of Cookeville and the staff at Cedar Hills Senior Living for all the care, compassion and support they gave Mom.

A graveside service and interment will be held at Algood City Cemetery on Monday November 4, beginning at 11am. Bro. John Chowning will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Algood City Cemetery, P.O. Box 49215, Algood, TN 38506.
