Mary Martha Snowden

BAXTER-Funeral services for Mary Martha Snowden, 82 of Lebanon formerly of Silver Point, will be Monday, April 10 at 2 PM at the Baxter Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Cookeville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday after 11 AM until service time at the funeral home. Bro. Tony Crow and Bro. Travis Little will officiate.

Mrs. Snowden died Thursday April 6, 2023 at Sumner Regional Medical Center in Gallatin, TN.

She was born December 29, 1940 in Silver Point, TN to the late Lionel D. and Anna Mai Julian Smith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Ann Snowden, brother William "Bill" Smith, half-brothers Ashley Smith and Lee Donald Smith.

Mary was a 1958 graduate of Baxter Seminary and was the class Valedictorian. She later graduated from Vanderbilt University School of Nursing. She retired from the State of Tennessee as a traveling nurse.

Mary was a kind, loving artistic person and loved by all who met her. She was a member of Gilda's Club, teaching classes on Ukrainian Egg, making jewelry, growing flowers and was a avid seamstress.

Survivors include a brother James W. Smith of Silver Point, sister-in-law Anita Jewel Smith of Silver Point, nieces and nephews: Donna (Gary) Hamblin, Lorna and Shea Lee, Elaine and Brian Sears, Lionel and Jessica Smith, Philip and Daka Smith, Forrest and Elizabeth Smith and Mike Smith, friend and neighbor Nancy Hawkins.

Special thanks to Anita, Lorna, Elaine and Donna for their care of Mary.

Serving as pallbearers will be Lionel, Philip and Colton Smith, Elliott and Shea Lee, Brian Sears.
