Mary Ledford

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Ledford, 72 of Cookeville, will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, February 11 at Stevens Street Baptist Church with Dr. Jimmy Arms officiating. Interment will follow at Crest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 - 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home and again Thursday from 12 p.m. until service time at the church. Mrs. Ledford died Monday afternoon February 8, 2016 at her home. She was born January 2, 1944 in Rockwood, TN to the late Abraham Lincoln and Willie Mae Litton Pickrell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Minoka Billings. Mary was a member of Stevens Street Baptist Church. She was always faithful and served in a variety of capacities in the church. She was employed at General Telephone Company and later worked and retired from Cookeville Cable TV. Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother. She loved to cook and care for friends and family. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Jim (Smiley) Ledford (whom she married July 6, 1961 in Ringgold, GA); son and daughter-in-law, Wade and Lisa Ledford; two grandsons, Jim Ledford and wife Kayla, and John Ledford and fiancé Allie Wheeler, all of Cookeville; sister, Peggy Roddy of Sevierville, TN; two great-grandchildren, Dallas and David Ledford. Members of Mary's Sunday School Class, God's Servants, will serve as pallbearers. Memorial contributions may be made to the Care Center at Stevens Street Baptist Church, 377 Short Street, Suite B, Cookeville, TN 38501.
