Mary Ellen Whitaker

Funeral Services for Mary Ellen Whitaker, age 82 of Cookeville, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 2, 2012 in the Chapel of Dyer Funeral Home, with burial following in the Brown’s Mill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening January 1, 2012, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Mrs. Whitaker died Friday, December 30, 2011 at Standing Stone Care and Rehab in Monterey. She was born April 16, 1929 in Putnam County TN to the late Dallas Jackson and Eva Sliger Jackson. Mrs. Whitaker was a member of the Jefferson Avenue Church of Christ. Mary Ellen was a loving mother and grandmother. She is survived by one daughter, Nancy (Robert) Jared of Cookeville; one brother, Harold Jackson of Cookeville; three sisters-in-law, Doris Jackson, Dimple Jackson, and Helen Jackson, all of Cookeville; three grandchildren, Ellen ( Scott) Bilbrey of Cookeville, Emily (Brian) Morgan of Rickman and Nicole (Brandon) Bain of Quebeck; six great-grandchildren, Olivia and Lauren Bilbrey, Sydney, Callie and Braxton Morgan, and Alex Ty Bain. Mary Ellen is also survived by a very special friend, Diane Daniels. In addition to her husband, Lot Whitaker Jr., Mrs. Whitaker was preceded in death by her parent; one son, Tommy Whitaker; three brothers, Ralph, Winnell and Harlon Jackson; and one sister –in-law, Janice Jackson. Pallbearers will be Scott Bilbrey, Brian Morgan, Brandon Bain, David Ralph Jackson, John Brown Jr., Johnny Brown III, and Braxton Morgan. Bro.Buddy Johnson and Bro.Charles Williamson will be conducting the service.
