Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Dimple Covington, 88, of Cookeville, will be held at 11 am Monday, April 8, from the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home with Pastor Dave Deppisch and Larry Wilmoth officiating. Interment will follow in the Phillips Cemetery in Algood. The family will receive friends Sunday from 5 "� 8 pm and again Monday from 9 am until service time at the funeral home. Mrs. Covington died Saturday morning, April 6, 2013 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born September 17, 1924 in Putnam County, TN, to the late Charlie L. and Nancy Sulie Wilmoth Phillips In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William B. Covington; two brothers, Roscoe and and Casto Phillips; and sister, Clio Gilliam. She was a lifelong member of Post Oak Presbyterian Church. She served in various capacities in the church such as Sunday School teacher, organist and pianist for over 50 years. She also served as Treasurer of the Post Oak Presbyterian Women"�s Society. Mrs. Covington was also a former member of the Sacred Melody Quartet. Mrs. Covington was a former associate at Red Kap in Cookeville, and was retired from Wilmoth Insurance Agency. She is fondly remembered for hosting Sunday lunches for family and friends. Her homemade sourdough bread and dill pickles were enjoyed by many. She enjoyed gardening and harvesting blueberries. She is survived by two sons and daughters"�in-law, Charles and Twila Covington, Lloyd and Jo Covington, all of Cookeville; brother, Elmo Phillips of Cookeville; four grandchildren, Eli Covington, Hannah Covington Sliger and husband Michael, Wendy McQuiston and special friend Sherwin Piedad, and Kirk Covington and wife Angela; three sisters-in-law Lottie Phillips, Lucille Hyder, and Lois Lacy; brother-in-law, Dr. John Covington and wife Glenda. Honorary pallbearers will be nephews and great nephews, Active pallbearers will be Rellon Phillips, Eli Covington, Kirk Covington, Michael Sliger, and Jesse Gilliam. Memorial contributions may be made to the Post Oak Presbyterian Women"�s Society, 1174 Post Oak Road, Cookeville, TN 38506.
