Mary Ada Massa

Graveside Funeral Services for Mary Ada Massa, age 91 of Cookeville, will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at Boiling Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening, February 15, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Dyer Funeral Home. Mrs. Massa died Friday, February 11, 2011 at the Saint Johns Hospital in Detroit Michigan. She was born July 22, 1919 in Buffalo Valley TN to the late Bill Pullum and Nancy Goff Pullum. Mary was the best mother, grandmother and great grandmother in the world. She spent her life in Cookeville serving Dr. Deberry as a Nanny and housekeeper as well as working in the local shirt factory and was a caregiver to older folks later in life. Mrs. Massa was always cheerful and loved entertaining family and friends. Mrs. Massa is survived by six children: Dorothy Sullivan, Dimple (Bobby) Judd, Billy (Margie) Massa, Charles (Brenda) Massa, James (Carol) Massa, and Glyn (Cherie) Massa. She is also survived by six brothers and sisters; Ruby Massa, Jay (Reba) Pullum, Mattie (Kenneth) McCloud, Opal Coffman, Ed (Ann) Pullum, and Jo Harp as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Mrs. Massa had spent the last year in Michigan with her daughter Dorothy preceding her death. She was preceded in death by her husband Smith Massa, two children Sue Mayberry and Jackie Massa, and two grandchildren Jeffery Judd and Jacky Dale Massa.
