COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - Martha Ann Lafever, a cherished member of the Cookeville community, passed away on December 14, 2024, at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center at the age of 81. Born on September 2, 1943, in Cookeville, TN, Martha touched the lives of many throughout her years, demonstrating a spirit full of love and kindness.
Martha dedicated many years of her life to serving at the Farm Services Agency, from which she eventually retired. Her commitment to her work was matched only by her allegiance to her family and friends. A loving wife of 60 years to Ronnie Lafever, she embraced her role as a wife, mother, and grandmother with an open heart. As a mother to Kim (Stan) Coada and Tracie (Chris) Simmons, and a proud nana to her grandchildren-Taylor (Darcy) Coada, Kailey (Steven) Bennett, and Hannah (Chevon) Smith-Martha found great joy in nurturing her family. Her role as a nana was especially meaningful to her, bringing a profound sense of happiness as she welcomed great-grandchildren Randall, Violet, Dylan, and Henry into the world. She is also survived by her loving sister, Velma Peek.
Martha is predeceased by her parents, Chester and Lorelle King, and her sister, Thelma Fields Cunningham.
Martha's warmth registered deeply in her community, often remembered for her sweet personality, which was characterized by her readiness to help others and a big heart that knew no bounds. Her interests included planting and tending to her beautiful flowers, showcasing her nurturing nature that blossomed not only in her garden but also in her relationships.
Martha created lasting memories through music, particularly singing with the King family singers at churches throughout Tennessee-a pastime that undoubtedly enriched her life and those around her.
A funeral service remembering Martha will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday December 17 at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner. Bro. Gary West will officiate. Interment will follow at West Cemetery in the Burgess Falls community. Visitation for friends and family will be Tuesday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Nash Grove Baptist Church, 9390 Cookeville Boatdock Rd, Baxter, TN 38544.
Martha Ann Lafever will be dearly missed, and her memory will forever live in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
