Ellen was raised in Monroeville, Alabama, where she graduated from Monroe County High School. Her pursuit of knowledge led her to further her education at Auburn University and then earn an associate's degree in business from Atlanta College of Business. Ellen dedicated her career to civil service, beginning her work at the former Fort McPherson in Atlanta and eventually retiring from Fort Wainwright in Fairbanks, Alaska, after a fulfilling career as an administrative assistant.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Ellen was an exceptionally talented pianist and an avid reader. Her intelligence and creativity shone through in all she pursued. She had a great affection for animals, embodying the traits of a true pet lover. In addition, her computer skills made her adept and knowledgeable in modern technology, a testament to her adaptable spirit.

Ellen is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Jim Kinnaird, to whom she was married on September 3, 1977, in Atlanta, Georgia. Together, they built a life filled with love and shared memories.
