Martha Elizabeth Mccaleb

Funeral Services for Martha Elizabeth McCaleb, age 96, of Cookeville, will be held Sunday, January 23, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Dyer Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon from noon until time of the service. Burial will be in the West Cemetery. Mrs. McCaleb died Thursday January 20, 2011 at the Life Care Center of Sparta. She was born November 5, 1914 in Putnam County TN to the late William Howard Sliger and Pearlie Massa. Martha spent many years serving the public as a sales person for Terry Brothers Clothing on the Square. She was a member of the Cookeville Free Will Baptist Church. Martha is survived by four children: William Bulas (Dorothy) McCaleb of Baxter, Bailey (Alice) McCaleb of Lorida FL, Hollie McCaleb of Clewiston FL, and Barbara (Wayne) Eldridge of Cookeville. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren, twenty two great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren as well as one sister, Cleo Goodwin of Sparta TN. Mrs. McCaleb was preceded in death by her husband Orville McCaleb, one sister Mary LaFever, and an infant brother. The family would like to offer special thanks to the staff of Life Care Center of Sparta for their loving care of Mrs. McCaleb. Bro. Jack Taylor will be conducting the services. The family has requested memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of TN which may be done at the funeral home.
