Marson Mccormick

Funeral services for Mr. Dewey "Marson" McCormick, 75 of Monterey, will be held Friday June 6th at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Horner Funeral Home with Rev. Tony Barnett and Bro. David Cobb officiating. Interment will follow in Bohannon Cemetery. Mr. McCormick's family will receive friends Thursday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and again Friday from 12 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Mr. McCormick died Tuesday evening June 3, 2014 at his residence. He was born June 19, 1938 in the Calfkiller Community of Putnam County to the late Waymon England and Mattie Belle Roberson McCormick. He was employed as a truck driver for Suburban Mfg., Saturn, Russell Stover and Jacob Trucking over his career. Marson leaves a legacy of service to his community. He served as a Putnam Co. Commissioner and served on the Putnam Co. Fair Board. He served as President of the Monterey CB Club. He was a member of the Monterey Auxillary Police and Volunteer Fire Departments. Also, he was the long time, dedicated caretaker of the Bohannon Cemetery in the Calfkiller community. He was a member of Monterey First Freewill Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two wives, Dorothy Roberts Bowman and Faye Wells McCormick; and by four sisters, Dorothy Elrod, Hazel Bourne, Frances Everett and Gladys Daniels. He is survived by his wife, Debbie McCormick; two sons, David (Kim) McCormick and Kyle McCormick; three daughters, Angie (Bobby) Bohannon all of Monterey, Marsonette (Tom) Houston of Crossville and Ashley McCormick of Monterey; ten grandchildren; seven great grandchildren, sister, Anna Kate Parks of Dayton, OH; many nieces and nephews; and by special friends, Waylon Tabors, Buddy Miller, Raymond Reed, Paul Garrett and Harold Callahan. Family members will serve as pallbearers. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
