Marshall Whitehead

A memorial service for Mr. Matthew Marshall Whitehead, age 73 of Baxter, will be held Saturday, February 8th at 4pm in the gymnasium of Elizabeth Chapel Baptist Church in Smithville (1850 Allen Ferry Road, Smithville, TN, 37166). His family will receive friends Saturday from 2pm until service time at the church. Mr. Whitehead died Tuesday February 4, 2020 at his residence. He was born November 13, 1946 to the late Albert Eugene and Edna Jackson Whitehead. A lifelong resident of Putnam Co., Marshall worked for over 20 years as a school bus driver in Putnam County and for over 10 years in Smith Co. Marshall was a devoted family man and spending quality time with them was his top priority. He was a wonderful father, grandfather and brother, always happy and ready for a good laugh. He loved being outside, golfing, fishing, hunting and yard selling. His kind and sweet nature will be dearly missed. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Kenneth, Frank, Billy and Jerry Whitehead; and sisters, Lois Green McBroom and Emogene Buck. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Hilda Jackson Whitehead; sons, Jeff (Della) Whitehead, John Edward Whitehead, Kenneth (Tina) Whitehead and Roger (Donna) Whithead; daughter, Charlotte (Perry) Bowman; grandchildren, Isaac Vaughn, James Aubrey Bowman, Ashlee (Jacob) Rankhorn, Tasha Page (Patrick) Buck, Matthew Whitehead, Jordan Whitehead, Jonathan Whitehead, Hannah Brook Whitehead, Madison Faith Whitehead and Kenneth Shea Whitehead; great grandchildren, Perry Chase Bowman, Graycie May Bowman and Brynlee Allana Rankhorn; brothers, Luke Whitehead, Gary Neal (Teresa) Whitehead and Carl Wayne (Vicky) Whitehead; sister, Blenda (Joey) Harris; and half-brother, Jimmy (Michelle) Simpson.
