BAXTER CHAPEL-Marsha Y. Chaffin Maxwell, a beloved member of the Pippin Church of Christ and a cherished figure in her community, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 25 2024 at the age of 69, at her home in Cookeville, Tennessee. She was born on April 22, 1955, in Cookeville, and her life journey began in the nurturing environment of Baxter, where she grew up and attended Upperman High School.

Marsha was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, known for her kind spirit and unwavering love for her family. She is survived by her mother, Mamie Pippin Chaffin of Cookeville; her sons, Mitchell Maxwell of Cookeville, and Chance (Stephanie) Maxwell of Carthage; her daughter, Amber (Gabriel) Maxwell-Stephenson of Alexandria, TN; a daughter in law, Heather Maxwell; the father of her children, Jerry Maxwell; her brother, Michael (Tami) Chaffin of Baxter; and her sister, Myra Overall of Cookeville. Marsha’s legacy will live on through her children and grandchildren, Courtney (Jeremy) Kincaid of Noblesville, IN, Kayla Stephenson, Kaitlyn Stephenson, Brynleigh Stephenson of Alexandria, TN, Mason Maxwell, and Marielle Maxwell of Carthage, TN; as well as her great-grandchild, Conan Kincaid and Freya Kincaid on the way, many special cousins and special friends.

Her passions were as diverse and vibrant as her personality. Marsha enjoyed camping, the beach and the lake, hunting, fishing, and riding motorcycles. She found joy in kayaking, tending to flowers, sewing and making clothes, cooking delectable meals, quilting, farming and gardening. Above all, she treasured the time spent with her family and friends, particularly her grandchildren, creating cherished memories that will be fondly remembered.

Marsha also took pride in her accomplishments, in many skills developed over her life particularly her skills in building, design, construction and home crafts. Early on she played an integral role in uncovering Indian artifacts as an archaeologist,  a reflection of her commitment to history and culture.

She was preceded in death by her father, Bedford "Butch" Chaffin, along with her children, Martin "Marty" Jeremy Maxwell, and Monica & Priscilla Maxwell, grandparents, Bedford B. & Hardie Ann Davidson Chaffin, and Thomas Emery & Mallie Frances Welch Pippin.

A celebration of life service is being planned and will be announced at a later date.

Marsha Y. Maxwell will be profoundly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her spirit, love, and dedication to her family will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.
