Marjorie Vermillion

Graveside services and interment for Mrs. Marjorie Ruth Vermillion, age 92, of Monterey, will be at 4 p.m. Sunday May 26 at Welch Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 - 3:30 p.m. at Horner Funeral Home in Monterey and then depart in procession to the cemetery. Mrs. Vermillion passed away Thursday afternoon May 23, 2019 at Standing Stone Care and Rehabilitation Center. She was born April 17, 1927 in Carthage, TN to the late Roscoe and Celia Howard Welch. Besides being a homemaker, she was a lifetime member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where she served as a song leader and visiting teacher. She was also interested in genealogy. Later in her life she enjoyed presenting new mothers of family members, friends, and church members with her home-made baby quilts. She is survived by her daughter, Brenda (Vermillion) Vaughn of Rochester Hills, MI; son, Glenn Vermillion of Marietta, GA; three sisters, Doris Sampley of Monterey; Anna Weaver of Ocala, FL, and Dimple Powell of Miamisburg, OH; and three grandchildren, Gretchen Vaughn of St Louis, MO, and Michael and Nicholas Vermillion of Marietta, GA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Vermillion and two brothers, Roscoe Welch, Jr. and Donald Jack Welch of Monterey.
