Funeral services for Marjorie Sue Boswell, 89, formerly of Cookeville, TN, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday April 7 in the Cookeville chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Bro. Clarence DeLoach will officiate. Interment will follow at Crest Lawn Cemetery. Her family will receive friends Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Mrs. Boswell passed on April 4, 2022 at her home in Nashville, TN. She was born on May 14, 1932 in Jackson County, TN to the late Fred and Alma Brown. She was also preceded in death by brothers Roy Brown and Freed (Ruth) Kincaid, and niece Helen Kincaid (Ray) Dennis. Marjorie was an active member of Crieve Hall Church of Christ, Nashville, TN. She had previously served as an elder’s wife at Willow Avenue Church of Christ, Cookeville, TN and Hill Street and Westside Church of Christ, Griffin, GA. Marjorie graduated from Jackson County Central High School in 1949. She attended Tennessee Tech University (TTU) where she received a B.S. in Education in 1952. In the TTU cafeteria she met Fred C. Boswell, they wed on September 3, 1954, and were married for 53 years. He preceded her in death in 2008. Marjorie taught shorthand, typing, and history in Monterey, TN, Knoxville, TN, and Griffin, GA. After living briefly in Knoxville, TN and State College, PA, she resided in Griffin, GA for almost 35 years and raised her family there. After her husband’s retirement, they moved back to their home state of TN and lived in Cookeville for 25 years. Marjorie then moved to Nashville in 2015 to be closer to her daughters. She was a talented seamstress and a flower and vegetable gardener. She enjoyed playing canasta, reading, working jigsaw puzzles, competing in family ping pong tournaments, and watching college football and basketball, along with other sports. Her family includes two daughters, Elaine Boswell (Gary) King and Julia Boswell (Bill) Merry, all of Nashville; three grandchildren, Kensley (Tyler Copeland) Merry, Connor (Katelyn Tschiggfrie) Merry, and Abigail Boswell King; sister-in-law Frances Brown; cousins including Ann Fox Cantrell and Susan Dudney; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. In lieu of flowers, donations may be gifted to Crieve Hall Church of Christ Golden Group or Willow Avenue Church of Christ Goldenaires.
