Marilyn Louise Sealy

COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - Marilyn Louise Sealy, a beloved figure in her community and a devoted family member, passed away on Saturday December 28, 2024, at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Born on October 10, 1931, in Cookeville, TN, Louise lived a life rich in love, service, and dedication to her family and community.

Louise's educational journey led her to Tennessee Polytechnic Institute (now TN Tech University), where she received two bachelor degrees in business and education. Her career reflected her dedication and passion for learning, and she embodied the spirit of selflessness that defined her personal and professional life.

Louise had a distinguished career in education, teaching at Livingston Academy and later Goodlettsville High School, where she imparted her knowledge in music, served as the band director, and taught vital business classes. Despite her passion for teaching, she made the profound choice to leave her career to become a stay-at-home mother, focusing her efforts on nurturing her family. She and her husband, Gen. Bertram William Sealy Jr., shared many years together in Bel Air, MD, before returning to their roots in Cookeville in 1990. It was during this period that they established Bear Creek Farm, a testament to their commitment to family and the land.

Louise was not only an educator but also a vibrant member of her community. She held memberships in the Daughters of the Confederacy and the Algood Lions Club, where her energetic and selfless spirit shone through. A proud member of Bangham Heights Baptist Church in Cookeville, she had previously been involved with Livingston First Baptist Church and Oak Grove Baptist Church in Bel Air, MD. Louise’s legacy includes her role as a prayer warrior, serving her church and community with dedication and faith.

She leaves behind a loving family, including her two sons, Robert Sealy and Pat (Angela Renee) Sealy; her daughter, Helen Lyn Diel (Justin); and her cherished grandchildren, Marissa Sealy Wright (Brandon), Mikaela Diel Wilson (Nolan), Dakota William Diel, Savannah Diel Hayes (Michael), and William Colter Sealy. Marilyn was a proud grandmother to her great-grandchildren, Neyland, Hattie, Eden, Hyland, Remington, Hendricks, Baker, and Rhett, all of whom were precious to her.

Louise is preceded in death by her parents, Dudley "Red" D. Bell and Helen Estelle Wall Bell, and her beloved husband, Gen. Bertram William Sealy Jr. Her vibrant personality, composed demeanor, and loving spirit will be sincerely missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A funeral service honoring Louise will be at 1 p.m. Thursday January 2 at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Cookeville City Cemetery. Visitation for friends and family will be from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. on Thursday.

Though she may no longer walk among us, her legacy of love and warmth will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of her family and all who were privileged to know her.

Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. (931)526-6111 Share condolences and memories at www.hhhfunerals.com.
