Marie Erger

A Mass of Christian Burial for Ms. Marie Theresa Erger, 88, of Cookeville will be celebrated at 6 pm on Friday November 22 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church with Father John Pantuso officiating. Interment will be at a later date in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Detroit, MI. The family will receive friends Friday from 4 pm until service time at the church. Ms. Erger died Wednesday morning, November 20, 2013 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born January 21, 1925 in Detroit, MI to the late Joseph and Catherine Rumencic Erger. Ms. Erger was a member of St. Andrews Catholic Church in Sparta. She was formerly employed as an administrative assistant at Chrysler in Detroit, MI and Like Home Center in Scottsville, MI. After strongly considering entering the convent, she instead spent her life caring for her parents, her beloved nephews and nieces, and their children. She found great joy in her family, especially her great nephews and nieces who called her Meme. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Barbara Erger. She is survived by two brothers and a sister-in-law, Ed Erger of Sparta, Joe and Barbara Erger of Durham, NC; nieces and nephews, Joseph Erger, Michelle Ferrier (Blair), Carla Madlin (Dave), Melissa Amaral (Brian), Edward J. Erger, and Eric M. Erger (Sara); great nieces and nephews, Ian Ferrier, Gavin Erger, Aubrey Erger, Annika Amaral, and Aidan Amaral. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
