Funeral services for Mrs. Marian Alverna McDoniel, 89, of Cookeville, will be held Monday, November 7th at 3:00p.m. at Jefferson Avenue Church of Christ. Interment will follow in Crest Lawn Cemetery. Bro. Buddy Johnson will officiate. Mrs. McDoniel died Thursday afternoon, November 3, 2016 at Heritage Pointe Senior Living. She was born December 18, 1926 near Martins Ferry, Ohio to the late Carlos Frank and Lela Florence Shimp Milhoan. She was a 1944 graduate of Cambridge, Ohio High School and earned an Associate's Degree from the Ohio State University in 1952. Mrs. McDoniel was a wonderful homemaker, a dedicated wife and a loving mother. She and her late husband, Bro. Glen McDoniel, served churches in Cambridge, OH; Piggott and Jonesboro, AR; Macon, GA; Houston, TX; Columbus, MS before moving to Cookeville in 1977 when he became minister at Jefferson Avenue Church of Christ. She was a longtime Sunday school teacher. A nurturer, she was a loving caregiver and babysitter. She enjoyed sewing and quilting. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Bro. Robert ‘Glen' McDoniel (who died August 2, 2006); and by brother, Don Milhoan. Mrs. McDoniel is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Robert ‘Bob' and Dorothy McDoniel of Okmulgee, OK; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lynn and John Lane of Cookeville and Nancy and Brian Mansfield of Nashville; sisters, Pat (Norm) Behrendt of Cambridge, OH and Sandy Bryant of California, MO; ten grandchildren, Amy (Jeremy) Anguish, Ellen (Nathan) Anderson, Phillip (Melissa) McDoniel, Rebecca (Matt) Baggett, James (Whitney) Lane, Michael (Kim) Lane, Nick Mansfield, Zach Mansfield, Gracelyn Mansfield and Annalise Mansfield; great-grandchildren, Lane Baggett, John Steven Baggett, Penelope ‘Nell' Anderson, Clifford Anderson, Chloe Anguish, Alexander Anguish and Hattie Bell Lane. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Family will receive friends Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Monday from 2:00 p.m. until service time at the church.
