Maria Di Raimo Morgan

March 1, 1929 — September 23, 2024

Cookeville

COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - Maria Di Raimo Morgan, aka “Nonna,” aged 95, passed away peacefully with family by her side on September 23, 2024, at her senior living community in Cookeville, Tennessee.

Born on March 1, 1929, in Naples, Italy, Maria was cherished by all her friends, neighbors and family members. She was an excellent seamstress, homemaker and cook who loved to feed and nurture everyone around her. Her homemade lasagna was legendary and so delicious that a famous Nashville restauranteur wanted her secret recipe in exchange for naming the dish “Nonna’s Lasagna” on his menu. She didn’t give it to him.

Maria's legacy is carried on by her beloved son, Albert Morgan; her daughters, Rita Morgan Richardson (Tim); and Anna Maria Morgan Barrett; her adored grandsons, Zach Richardson, Henry Richardson, and Mike Truelson (Emily), and her great grandchildren Jane and Jack.

She was predeceased in death by her dear parents, Alberto Di Raimo and Armida Ginetta Girolami, her husband Henry Andrew Morgan, as well as her siblings, Armando Di Raimo, Mario Di Raimo, and Ida Johnson.

A resident of Marietta, Georgia for much of her life, Maria later relocated to Cookeville, Tennessee in 2024, where she continued to live with kindness and laughter, winning the hearts of the staff at her senior living community, her hospice nurse, and her fellow residents. She will be remembered for the love she had for her family, her intelligence, her strength of character, her resourcefulness, and her sense of humor.

Maria’s final wishes for cremation are being honored, and the family will gather to celebrate her life at a later date.

Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. (931)526-6111 Share condolences and memories at www.hhhfunerals.com.
