Margaret, affectionately known as Nana by all who knew and loved her, was born to Mack and Ruth Farris on September 10, 1926 in Hampshire, TN just west of Columbia. Margaret met Troyce Cavender, a returning veteran of WWII, and they married in April of 1947. They made a good life together, raising and providing for three children. They lived in several places in Tennessee before settling in Cookeville in 1978 where she was a faithful wife, mother and homemaker. Both Troyce and Margaret loved the Lord and were longtime members of the Northeast Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by Troyce, her husband of almost 58 years in 2005. She is survived by a son, Ernie Cavender and wife Beverly of Cookeville; a daughter, Rhonda Clark and husband Larry of Kingston; and a son, Tim Cavender and wife Margie of Cookeville. She is also survived by all her siblings, Lucy Roberts of Creswell, OR, Stanfill Farris and wife Archie of Columbia, Kenneth Farris of Winchester, and Mary Gilmore of Mt Pleasant; as well as five grandchildren, Christa (Jason) Sisco, Kyle (Cathy) Cavender, Jennifer (Kent) Peggram, Patrick (Elisa) Clark, and Brad (Kara) Cavender; eleven great-grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter. The family would like to thank her caregivers, especially Jennifer Underwood who with faithfulness and compassion stood by her for more than a year, Tammy King and Gail Carr who also were there for her during her last few weeks, as well as Peggy Woodell, Beth Revalee, and Angela Harris. Special thanks to Dr. Chet Gentry and the staff of Upper Cumberland Hospice. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Northeast Church of Christ, Tennessee Bible College or Happy Haven Home for Children. Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. (931)526-6111 Share thoughts and memories at hhhfunerals.com.
