Marcia King, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2024, in Nashville, Tennessee, at the age of 65. Born on November 18, 1958, in Ypsilanti, Michigan, Marcia's warmth and vivacity blossomed early and continued to touch the lives of all who knew her.

Marcia's journey started in the heart of Tennessee, where she built a life rich with love, laughter, and service. She graduated from Upperman High School in Baxter and went on to pursue higher education at Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville, where she cultivated a passion for learning and community involvement.

Her commitment to her community was evident through her active membership at Crossroads Community Church in Baxter, where she found great joy in fellowship and service. Marcia's spirit of generosity extended beyond the church walls as she dedicated time to volunteering with Habitat for Humanity and Second Harvest Food Bank, helping to build homes and hope for those in need.

Professionally, Marcia's dedication, care, and concern for children are highly recognized among colleagues and the community. Her work changed the lives of countless children, who may in turn change the world themselves. Her career was marked by a genuine desire to contribute positively to her workplace and to support her colleagues. Her professional achievements were paralleled by her unwavering commitment to her family and her faith.

Marcia's life was a testament to the things she cherished most: her family, her faith, and the simple pleasures of life. She and her loving husband, Gary King, shared a bond that was a beacon of devotion and mutual respect. Together, they nurtured a blended family that included her sons, Michael Chaffin and Gabriel (Taylor) Herman, her daughter, Candice (Eric) Moody, and step-children, Chad King, Aisha (Dennis) Hagglund, and Brandi (Shane) Lyle. Her sister, Pam (Danny) Roberts, shared in the joys and sorrows of life alongside her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl Dean, and Hazel Dean Montgomery Mills.

Marcia's legacy is carried on through her fourteen grandchildren: Gwynevere Chaffin, Luna McKinnis, Kiera, Roark, and Torin Moody, Irelynn and Wrenlee Herman, Maggie and Knox King, Briley and Ashlyn Hamer, Ayla Hagglund, Maison and Paige Lyle. Each grandchild held a special place in her heart, and she reveled in their accomplishments and adventures.

An avid lover of the outdoors, Marcia found solace and rejuvenation in hiking, gardening, and being active outdoors. Her garden was a canvas of vibrant flowers and a reflection of her love for beauty and growth. The beach was a sanctuary for her soul, where the rhythm of the waves echoed her appreciation for life's ebb and flow.

Marcia's impact on the world was as beautiful and varied as the flowers she so adored. Her zest for life and her capacity for kindness were boundless. She approached each day with a sense of purpose and a desire to make a difference, whether through a warm smile, a helping hand, or a listening ear.

As we bid farewell to Marcia King, we celebrate a life lived and loved with intention and grace. Her memory will continue to inspire and guide us, just as the stars guide the traveler on a journey through the night. Marcia's spirit, like the flowers she cherished, will remain a vibrant and enduring presence in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
