Graveside services and interment for Mr. Malcolm "Mac" Edward Thomson, age 87 of Cookeville and formerly of Indiana and Dallas, TX, will be conducted Friday July 24 at 12 noon at Bellefontaine Cemetery in Mt. Vernon, Ind. A Burial Rite by Rev. Joe Weatherly will be offered Thursday at 6 p.m. in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Mac's family will receive friends Thursday from 4 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Mac died Friday afternoon July 17, 2015 at his home. He was born March 31, 1928 in Winnipeg, Canada to the late Thomas Edward and Helen Fuher Thomson. Mac was a life-long member of the Episcopal Church and since living in Cookeville was a member of Saint Michael's Episcopal Church. Mac graduated high school from Saint John's Military Academy; attended Indiana University; and received both his BA and MBA from Dallas Baptist University and as BS in computer science and CIS from Brookhaven Community College. Mac was a rate clerk with Red Ball Freight Lines. He formerly worked several years with New York Central Railroad. While in Dallas, he worked for Frozen Food Express and Alderman and Conway Southwest Express. Mac was an avid train collector and hockey enthusiast; who loved dogs (especially German Shepherds). He was a kind and generous man with a heart of gold. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two wives, Carolyn Hohstadt Thomson, and Mary Lou Tucker Thomson; and his brother, Eugene F. Thomson. Survivors include his niece, Janet "Jani" and husband, Randy Cox of Harvest, AL; three nephews, Tom (Anne) Thomson of Fort Collins, Colorado, James Thomson of Evansville, IN, and John (Bridget) Thomson of Newburgh, IN; several great nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Wanda Thomson of Evansville, IN; his trusty K-9, Anna; and his caregivers, Ronnie and Zella Phillips; and his step-children David (Debbie) Tucker of Nashville, TN, Kevin (Sally) Tucker of Cookeville, Emily Ferguson of Winston-Salem, NC, and several step-grandchildren and great –grandchildren.
