They raised their family in Gainesboro before moving to Oneida, TN in 1964. They returned to Cookeville in 1978. Her earthly journey of 100 rich years touched many: Surviving her and spanning five generations are: Six children, Nell Johnson and husband Billy of Hendersonville, Mai Smith and husband Herb of Cookeville, Ruth Hale of Hendersonville, David Billingsley and wife Janie of Goodlettsville, Patricia Spivey of Madison and Don Billingsley and wife Sylvia of Oneida; one sister, Lola Flatt of Cookeville. "Granny B" will be missed by 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren (one forthcoming) and 6 great-great grandchildren (one forthcoming); several nieces and nephews, her extended family of special caregivers and her caring church family at Jefferson Avenue Church of Christ. In addition to her parents she is also preceded in death by her husband, Leo Billingsley (d. Aug. 24, 1998), sister, Doyle Anderson; brothers, Floyd & William Coomer, and son-in-law, Jesse Hale. Granny cared deeply for her family. She didn't hold back in giving honest guidance in the Christian walk. 2 Timothy 4: 7-8 "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness." She was industrious, as she was by her husband's side in his business endeavors. She loved quilting and gave quilts to her grandchildren as wedding presents and again when the great-grandchildren were born. She also enjoyed the time spent with church quilting groups. Mrs. Billingsley was faithful to the Church of Christ through memberships during her life at Philadelphia, Oneida, Willow Ave. and currently at Jefferson Ave Church of Christ.
