Mable Bussell

Graveside services and interment for Mrs. Mable Lorene Bussell, age 90 of Cookeville will Monday August 19 at 1:00 p.m. at the Cookeville City Cemetery with Horace Burks officiating. Mrs. Bussell's family will receive friends Sunday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Monday from 11 a. m. until 12:45 p.m. at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Mrs. Bussell died suddenly Friday August 16, 2013 at her home. She was born June 3, 1923 in Gainesboro, Tennessee to the late Joe Bryan and Tennie Mai Mathis Roberts. She and her husband owned and operated Bussell Motors in Cookeville until their retirement. She became a member of Willow Avenue Church of Christ in 1949, where she served as Sunday School Director for the Elementary Education Department for many years. She served in that same role at Sycamore Church of Christ after becoming a member there in 1970. She loved her church and her family, and considered raising a Christian family as her proudest achievement. She was well-known and loved in the Upper Cumberland Area for her benevolence and singing in church and at many funerals. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Edward Roberts, Jack Roberts, and Danny Roberts. Survivors include her husband, Hubert Bussell (whom she married June 12, 1942 in Rossville, GA); two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Jimmy Daniels and Cathy and Touch Lamb all of Cookeville; son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Linda Bussell of Sparta; eight grandchildren, Jack (Fran) Daniels, Barry (Missy) Daniels, Rachael (Michael) Larkins, Libby Lamb, Jennifer D'angelo, Cody Bussell, Jessica (Johnny) Sherfil, and Stephanie (Clint) Isbill; seven great grandchildren; sister, Jo Helen Stewart; two sisters-in-law, Bernice Franklin of Cookeville and Evelyn Bussell of Glasgow, KY; and three special caregivers. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
