COOKEVILLE-Graveside service and interment for Lucy Irene Wilhite Maxwell, 96 of Cookeville, will be Friday, October 14 at 1 PM at the Samuel Maxwell Cemetery in Baxter, TN. The family will receive friends Thursday from 5 to 8 PM at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home. Mrs. Maxwell passed away Tuesday morning, October 11, 2016 at Heritage Pointe Senior Living of Cookeville surrounded by her loving family. She was born September 5, 1920 in Putnam County to the late Elijah McCampbell Wilhite and the late Flora Bartlett Wilhite. Mrs. Maxwell was married to the late Dallas Foster Maxwell of Cookeville for 61 years. She and her late husband were active members for many years of the former Lee Seminary Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Cookeville. She and her late husband were also some of the founding members of Christ's Community Church originally located on W. Jackson in Cookeville and presently on Woodland Avenue. She attended Christ's Community Church from 1980 until her death. She enjoyed attending church and family activities, working in the yard and garden and watching television shows. She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law Melvin and Mary Maxwell, Terry and Helen Maxwell all of Cookeville, Dale and Barbara Maxwell of Lebanon, a daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Bobby Maxwell of Cookeville, eight grandchildren: Sherry W. (Billy) Scott, D.D. (Christy) Tennant, Kathy Jo Prater and Karen (Brian) Buck all of Cookeville, Enitra Maxwell (Ronnie) Overstreet of Mt. Juliet, Kevin Maxwell and Chad Maxwell of Atlanta, GA and Brett (Lindsay) Maxwell of Denver, Colorado, thirteen great-grandchildren: Maxwell Wheaton, Jesse Scott, Chloe Tennant, Alexis Reagan, Emily Prater, T.C. Prater, Kason and Brogan Buck all of Cookeville, Taylor, Alex and Cole Overstreet of Mt. Juliet, Alexis and Chandra Sawyer of Lebanon. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Janice "CISSIE" Maxwell Tennant and a son-in-law Dennis S. Tennant, a grandchild John Sawyer, eight brothers Hertle , Nonda, Guy, Enza, Willie Mack, John H., Mitchell and Arnold Wilhite, two sisters, Della Wilhite Gilliam and Bunola Wilhite Jaquess. Active pallbearers will be D.D. Tennant, Kevin, Chad and Brett Maxwell, Max Wheaton, Billy Scott, Brian Buck and Ronnie Overstreet. Honorary pallbearers will be elders and former elders of Christ's Community Church; Tim Dean, Bill Braxton, Steve Forgey, John Wells and John Sims. Brother Ed Malone of Christ's Community Church will officiate the services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Samuel Maxwell Cemetery Association % Harold Brown-Treasurer 1069 Elmore Town Rd.
