Funeral services for Ms. Lucille Smith, 91 of Cookeville, will be held Friday March 1 at 10 a.m. in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home with Bro. Bobby Scantland officiating. Interment will follow in Lynn Cemetery in the Burristown Community of Jackson County. Ms. Smith died Tuesday evening February 26, 2013 in Bethesda Health Care Center. She was born July 7, 1921 in Jackson County, Tennessee to the late Charlie Benton and Clico Anderson Smith. She held various jobs in Michigan, Overton, and Putnam Counties and was retired from the Upper Cumberland Human Resource Agency with 10 years of service. She was of the Church of Christ Faith. Mrs. Smith enjoyed gardening, flowers, crafts of all kinds, and bowling. She was an avid reader and loved to cook and make clothes. Her former husband often said "she could stretch a dollar a mile"�. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two granddaughters, Megan Dale and Brittney Balser; grandson, Garrett Balser; and two brothers, Hobert Smith and Luke Smith. Survivors include her son, Alton Dixon of Cookeville; daughter and son-in-law, Alberta and Earl Dale of Livingston; step son and his wife, Tommy and Bonnie Wright of Hilham; four grandchildren, Sally Grimes, Rebecca Elliers, David (Patty) Dale, and Jack (Barbara) Dale; eleven great grandchildren, Jacob, Andrew, Matthew, Nathan, April, Rex, and Adam Dale, Maci and Addie Elliers, Grayson and Allie Grimes. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Ms. Smith"�s family will receive friends Thursday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
