Funeral Services for Lucille Bockman Robertson, 97 of Cookeville will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 1st at the First Presbyterian Church, 20 N. Dixie Avenue. Burial will follow in the Cookeville City Cemetery. Rev. Michael McLaughlin and Dr. Charles McCaskey will officiate. The family will receive friends Friday evening August 31st from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home and again Saturday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the service time at the church. She died August 27, 2018 at Signature Healthcare of Putnam Co. in Algood. She was born Wednesday August 3, 1921 in Lebanon, TN to the late Robert Roe and Mattie Pennington Bockman. She was a descendant of John and Sarah Mariah Cowan Bockman and Richard Fielding and Margaret Cox Cooke. Lucille was a great great granddaughter of Cookeville founder Richard Fielding Cooke. She graduated from the Cookeville City School, Cookeville Central High School, Tennessee Polytechnic Institute (TTU)h and McCormick Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Chicago with a Masters Degree in Christian Education. She served as a pastor's wife, as a Director of Christian Education, and she was active in the Presbyterian Church in teacher training on the local, Presbytery, and Synod level. She was as an ordained Elder and Deacon. She was married 70 years to the Reverend Ernest L. Robertson, an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA) and the United Methodist Church. Dr. George W. Burroughs officiated at the May 23, 1944 marriage ceremony at the Cookeville First Presbyterian Church. In honor of their 50th wedding anniversary a Reception and Service of Thanksgiving were held in the same church with many of the people in attendance who had attended the wedding. Until their retirement in Cookeville the Robertsons lived in West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and East Tennessee where Ernest served as pastor. Lucille was an active participant in Senior Olympics and excelled as a table tennis player. Her family includes her husband Ernest L. Robertson, her son and daughter-in-law David L. and Neda Robertson of Hornbeck, Louisiana; niece Wanda Livesay Jared of Cookeville; great nieces and nephews, great great nieces and nephews, 3 great great great nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters: Blanche Bockman Maxwell and Lena Rose Bockman Livesay; brother, Robert Burnice Bockman; one nephew J. Watson Maxwell; and two nieces Marguerite Maxwell and Anne Livesay Rose, several great nieces and nephews and cousins. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the Elders and Deacons of the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 20 N. Dixie Ave., Cookeville, TN 38501.
