- Funeral services for Ms. Ora Lucille Kuykendall, 92 of Cookeville will be held Tuesday, April 2, at 3 o"�clock in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Good Hope Cemetery in Livingston. Buddy Johnson will officiate. Ms. Kuykendall died Saturday morning April 21, 2012 in Alive Hospice of Nashville. She was born May 15, 1919 in Livingston, Tennessee, to the late Ellis Tinsley and Mattie Whitefield Kuykendall. She was a member of Jefferson Avenue Church of Christ. After graduation from Livingston Academy in 1937, Ms Kuykendall worked in a post depression job at Standing Stone State Park. In 1943 she went to Oak Ridge, TN, to work for Tennessee Eastman from 1943-1945, and was commended by the Secretary of War, Henry L. Stevenson, August 1, 1945, for "work essential to the production of the atomic bomb, thereby contributing to the successful conclusion of World War II."� She then had a 34-year career with Oak Ridge National Laboratory. She lived in Kingston, TN, from 1955 until 2007, when she moved to Cookeville to make her home at Heritage Point Assisted Living. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Edyth Ledbetter, and Lorean Hire; and three brothers, Graydon Kuykendall, James Kuykendall, and Herbert Kuykendall; as well as by nephew Donley Kuykendall and niece Margaret Lofty. Survivors include her nephew and care giver, James (Janet) Kuykendall of Cookeville; nephews, Sam (Pat) Kuykendall of McMinnville, Paul (Annette) Led better of Mt Juliet, and by nieces, Susan Blake, and Pam (Gene) Johnson of Huntsville, AL. Jefferson Avenue Church of Christ Bus Drivers will serve as pallbearers. Ms. Kuykendall"�s family will receive friends Tuesday from 1 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
