Lucille Black

A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Lucille Marie Black, age 90 of Cookeville, will be Celebrated Monday May 2 at 11 a.m. at Saint Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Father Chad Puthoff officiate. Interment will follow in Crest Lawn Cemetery. Mrs. Black's family will receive friends Sunday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home with a Rosary at 7 p.m. On Monday Mrs. Black's family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time at the church. Mrs. Black died Friday morning April 29, 2016 in Morningside of Cookeville. She was born December 20, 1925 in Chicago, IL to the late Stephen James and Marie Svoboda Masar. Mrs. Black was a retired administrative associate at Tennessee Tech University. She has been an active member of Saint Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church since 1970 where she served a number of years as an administrative assistant and choir member. Mrs. Black was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald L. Black and son, David L. Black. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Jeanne and Greg Pantke of Westmont, IL and Jo Anne and Ronnie Martin of Cookeville; three sons and daughters-in-law, Steven and Brenda Black of Cookeville, Phillip and Becky Black of Monterey, and John and Libby Black of Murfreesboro, TN; eleven grandchildren, David, Andrea, Stacey, Tracey, Christy, Cora, Sabrina, Kelly, Tyler, Chelsea, and Austin; several great grandchildren; and loyal dog, Sam. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Black's family suggest memorial contributions be made to: Alzheimer's Tennessee 1459 Interstate Drive, Suite 211 Cookeville, TN 38501.
