Funeral Services for L.P. Jared, Jr. of Baxter will be Thursday, Oct. 3 at 2 P.M. from the Baxter Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home with interment in Maxwell Cemetery North. Rev. Carl Stiglich and Rev. Gerald Taylor will officiate. Mr. Jared died Monday, September 30, 2013 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born December 6, 1927 in Putnam County to the late L. P Jared Sr. and Mary Frances Maxwell Jared. He was a retired backhoe operator with City of Baxter. He was a member of Friendship Methodist Church in Cookeville where he served as a Trustee and Usher. He also served on the church Pastor Parish Relationship Board. He led singing at Baxter United Methodist Church for 38 years, served as Master of Ceremonies at Maxwell Cemetery North annual decoration for 42 years and served on the cemetery board for 57 years. He was President of the Baxter Civitan Club 1970-1971. He loved to hunt and fish and was great in church fundraising activities. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Robertia Elouise McBride Medlock Jared on Feb. 17, 2013, sisters Ruby Young, Viona Warren, Lillian Talley, Mayme Jared, Gladys Stockton, brothers Vernon Minton, Hubert Jared, Alvin Jared. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law Sherron (James) Stanton of Baxter, son and daughter-in-law Vanas ( Mary Ann) Medlock of Cookeville, sister Marie Sostock of Detroit, MI., 4 grandchildren: Cindy Moore, Tammy Guess, Danny Stanton and Jacob Stanton,7 great-grandchildren: Krissy Guess Livingston, Crystal Guess Holt, Dustin Stanton, Chelsey Stanton, Erica Jane Stanton, Joshua David Stanton and Tiffany Moore, 6 great-great-grandchildren: Karissa, Kathryn, Kaitlyn and Kierstyn Livingston, Cassidy and Sheyene Holt, nieces : Leeann Curtis, Yvonne Moore, Viann Lollar, Melinda Past, Mary Jo Rector, Maurine Judd and Margaret Walker, nephews: Joe Harpe, Wilson Talley and Carrol Talley. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Family will receive friends Wednesday from 5 to 8 P.M. and after 10 A.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
