Loyde Ransom Stewart

Funeral services for Loyde Ransom Stewart, age 77, of Cookeville will be Friday, February 8, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Dyer Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Thursday, February 7, 2013 from 5 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until time of the service. Burial will follow in West Cemetery. Mr. Stewart passed away February 4, 2013 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Loyde was born August 6, 1935 in Cookeville TN to the late Sylvester V. Stewart and Anna Samantha Kirklin Stewart. Loyde loved his wife, children and grandchildren. He enjoyed playing the guitar, writing songs, fishing, bird watching and observing the squirrels gather nuts in the early morning hours. He took pride in his gardening and woodworking skills. Mr. Stewart is survived by his wife, Ruth Dene “Long” Stewart, two children; Pamela (Geoffrey) Rodgers of Cookeville and Randy (Machelle) Stewart of Cookeville, two grandchildren; Julianna Grace Rodgers and Zac Stewart of Cookeville. One great grandchild; Libby Rodgers. Loyde is also survived by two sisters; Marie LaFever of TN, Linnie Mae Hickey of MI, two brothers; Carl Stewart of MI and Luther Stewart AL. In addition to his parents Loyde was preceded in death by three brothers; Raymond Stewart, Ralph Stewart and Vance Stewart, one sister; Betty Rice and an infant son; Lloyd Darrel Stewart. Bro Sam Davis and Bro. Buddy Henry will officiate the service.
