Louise Hawkins Gregory

April 4, 1940 — October 11, 2023

Louise Hawkins Gregory, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at her residence in Cookeville, TN on October 11, 2023. Born on April 4, 1940, in Parsons, TN, to Eugene Hawkins and Eugenia Ivey Hawkins, Louise lived a life characterized by faith, loyalty, and quiet strength.

Louise dedicated her life to education, serving the Decatur County School System for many years before her retirement. Her passion for teaching was evident in the countless lives she touched, both inside and outside the classroom. Her dedication to her students and her profession was only surpassed by her devotion to her faith. As a faithful member of Pippin Church of Christ, Louise's quiet strength and unwavering faith were an inspiration to all who knew her.

Despite her professional commitments, Louise always prioritized her family. She was the loving mother of Richard Gregory (Kathryn) and Julianna Gregory, and a cherished sister to Don Hawkins (Genie). Her love for her family extended to her grandchildren, Max, John, and Luke Gregory, Tara Croasdale (Patrick), and Jack Truscott; and her great-grandchildren, Christian and Elizabeth Croasdale. Her love, wisdom, and guidance will be deeply missed by all her family members.

Louise was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Eugenia Hawkins, her devoted husband, Joe Miller Gregory Jr., and her dear sisters, Patricia Davenport and Emma Gene Forsythe. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her surviving family and the many lives she touched throughout her lifetime.

Memorial services are being planned for a later date.
