Louise Cummings

d. August 22, 2015

Funeral services for Mary Louise Cummings, 88 of Cookeville will be Tuesday, August 25 at 1 P.M. at Union Grove Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Harold Walker officiating. Interment will follow in the Judd Cemetery in the Holladay Community. Mrs. Cummings went home to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday, August 22, 2015 at Upper Cumberland Hospice in Cookeville, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born October 6, 1926 in LaForge, Missouri to the late Mart and Glennie Depro Johnson. She raised four children on her own. God blessed her with an indominable spirit, and although in a wheel chair the last ten years, she always had a smile and was a great encourager. She never complained. Her faith in Jesus Christ sustained her to the very end of her life. When the Doctors asked her if she wanted to be kept on life support, she answered "Why would I?I am going home". By that she meant going home to be with Jesus. Sister "LOUISE" who many referred to lovingly as "GRANNY" was a terrific Saint of God. She resided in Baxter since about 1976. She was a member of Lillys Chapel Free Will Baptist Church for many years. Along with her friend, Sister Louise Lawson, they attended many revival meetings and singings. She loved being in Church with her brothers and sisters. For close to forty years she went from walking on crutches to an electric wheel chair. This did not deter her from being faithful in Church. In 2005 she became a charter member when Union Grove Free Will Baptist Church began. She was one of the first attendees of this church. She will be sorely missed by her Church, her Church Family, her family and everyone who had the pleasure of meeting her. She loved everyone. We are comforted by the fact that she is at home with her Lord and Savior and all her loved ones who are believers in Jesus Christ. Our hearts are broken but our spirits soar. Someday all of us who are believers in Jesus Christ and Him Crucified, shall be reunited. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by son Keith Robinson, grandson Steve Patterson, sister Dorothy Clark and several infant sisters, brothers Leon, Solon, Bill and Buddy Johnson. Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law MJ and Steve Lusk, Lola and Steve Hullett, son and daughter-in-law Roy and Brenda Patterson, daughter-in-law Kellie Robinson all of Cookeville, sisters and a brother-in-law Jo Ann Gray of Flint, Mi, Justine and Billy Norris of Bryan, TX, brother and sister-in-law Norvel and Barbara Johnson of North Carolina, 9 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 18 great-great grandchildren. Family will receIve friends at the church Tuesday after 11 A.M., there will be no visitation at the funeral home.
