Funeral services for Mr. Louis Maynard Kirby, age 100 of Cookeville, will be held Tuesday, November 10th at 1 p.m. in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Crest Lawn Cemetery. Rev. Bob Pharris and Rev. Clint Walker will officiate. Mr. Kirby's family will receive friends Monday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Louis died Saturday morning November 7, 2015 at Bethesda Health Care Center. He was born August 20, 1915 in Jackson County, Tennessee to the late William Wade and Mattie Willoughby Kirby. Mr. Kirby was a life time farmer. He was a member of Eastwood Baptist Church and was a Sunday School Teacher. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Gladys Lee Cowan Kirby; sisters, Betty T. Minnear, Lillie Mae Cope and Tina Frances Kirby; brothers, James Haggard Kirby and Arthur Delmas Kirby; and by a nephew, Donald Eugene Minnear. He is survived by nieces and nephews, Thomas Odean Minnear and wife Lavada of Cookeville, James Louis Minnear and wife Judy of Marion, Indiana, Linda Rae Maxwell, Kenneth Frank Minnear and wife Linda, all of Cookeville, Glenda Carol Minnear and husband William Halfacre of Granville, and Martha Kirby Bumbalough of Sparta; and by dear family friends, Anita and Roger Forsyth of Maryville. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Memorial contributions may be made to Eastwood Baptist Church, 389 S Old Kentucky Rd., Cookeville, TN 38501.
