Lizzie Lafever

Funeral services for Lizzie Irene Lafever, 83 of Cookeville, will be Friday, November 19 at 6 PM at the Dyer Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home with Bro. Dow Allen officiating. Graveside service and interment will be Saturday, November 20 at 2 PM at Nash Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 4 PM until service time and Saturday after 11 AM until leaving in procession to the cemetery at 1:30 PM. Mrs. Lafever died Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at her home. She was born May 11, 1938 in White County to the late Amon and Oshie Mae Nash Duncan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Lafever, daughter Deborah Lafever, son Joe Lynn Hughes, brothers Jerry and Bud Duncan. She was a member of United Free Will Baptist Church on Dixie Avenue in Cookeville. Lizzie was retired from Cummins Filtration (Fleetguard) of Cookeville with 26 years of service. She was a member of GWRRA and enjoyed music, dancing, shopping, fishing, spending time with family and friends and her church family. Survivors include daughters Shirley Philpot of Smithville, Mary Jane Winningham and Irene Turner, Tonya (Tim) Wright all of Cookeville, sons Robert Hughes of Dalton, GA, Joe Lafever of Cookeville, sister Mary Ilene Nash of Sparta, brother James Duncan of Sparta, 16 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren. Active Pallbearers will be Kelly Hughes, Dusty Hicks, James Gist, Jr., Cassandra Rector, Trenton Glass, Elijah Richmond, Ronnie Bean and Skylar Duncan.
