Linda H. Smith, a treasured soul cherished for her unwavering faith and joyous spirit, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2024 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center, at the age of 77. Linda was born on the 7th of September, 1946, in Cookeville, TN, where she also took her final breath, surrounded by the love of her devoted family.
With a life characterized by dedication to her loved ones and an enduring warmth, Linda embraced her role as a homemaker with exceptional grace and fervor. She was the beloved wife of Isaac W. Smith and the heart of her home, creating an environment filled with love and care. Known for her nurturing and gentle nature, she spent her life in the service of making a beautiful life for her family.
Linda's legacy and compassionate spirit live on through her cherished family. Her role as a grandmother and great-grandmother was one she held with great pride. She delighted in the company of her grandchildren, Anthony (and wife Kassandra) Simmons, Dustin (and wife Jasmine) Downer, Savannah Simmons, Dakota (and wife Cara) Downer, Joel Smith, and Christine (and husband Deavon) Stubbs; and her great-grandchildren, Evelyn and Brom Simmons, Jaiden and Scarlett Downer, Abel, Maggie, Alayna, Jackson, and Carter Downer, and Amarah and Everlee Stubbs. Throughout her life, Linda was an anchor within her community, providing a shining example of faith and kindness. Her education in Putnam County Schools set the stage for a life rooted in the values of hard work and resilience, qualities she carried into her everyday tasks and relationships. In addition to her role at home, Linda was blessed with special friends like Arlis and Diane Phillips, individuals who shared memorable chapters of her life journey.
Linda had an array of interests that kept her engaged with the wonders of nature and the circle of life. She had a particular fondness for flowers and birds, which she found endlessly fascinating. Happiness was an evening spent solving puzzles on Wheel of Fortune or deepening her understanding through a Bible Study Course. Each of these pastimes were conduits for bringing her closer to the community she loved and the world around her.
Frequently described as faith-filled, Linda lived her principles with a compelling authenticity. Her unwavering belief and steadfast spirituality were sources of comfort and inspiration for those who knew her best.
