Libby Maxwell

Funeral services for Mary Elizabeth (Libby) Maxwell, age 87, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 10 at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home with Bro. Jim Moore officiating. Interment will follow at Algood City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Mrs. Maxwell was born May 25, 1928 in Old Hickory, TN. She passed away May 8, 2016 at the home of her son, Rick Maxwell in Cookeville. Mrs. Maxwell, in addition to being a homemaker, functioned as owner of Upper Cumberland Decorating Center, Cookeville, TN, after the death of her husband, Joe Maxwell in 2012. She attended Algood Trinity Assembly; and also was a charter member of Algood First Baptist Church (Church on the Hill.) She attributed her welfare and long life to her Great Creator. As well as her involvement with Upper Cumberland Decorating, she was employed by Shelton Wholesale Company for many years; served on the Algood City Council for a short time, and remained interested in local and national political developments. Survivors are her beloved son, Rick Maxwell and loving daughter in law, Linda; operators of Upper Cumberland Decorating Center; grandchildren, Dr. Lori Maxwell; Mrs. Melissa Stone and husband David, an employee of Upper Cumberland Decorating Center; Sean Maxwell and wife, Kendall all of Cookeville; and Chelsey Brown and husband, Bruce Brown of Abingdon, VA. Mrs. Maxwell was also blessed with nine great-grandchildren, Brenna and Evan Edgemon; Pete, Lucy Belle, Jack, and Dolly May Stone; Bo and Kennedy Maxwell; and Amelia Rose Brown. She is preceded in death by Joe Maxwell, her beloved husband of 66 years; parents Curtis and Ora Brown Holloway; and a brother, Jack Holloway. Other beloved survivors are many nieces and nephews, cousins, and special friends. David Stone, Bruce Brown, Evan Edgemon, Mike Holloway, JimmyMaxwell, and Mike Maxwell will serve as pallbearers.
