Lessie Hayes

Mrs. Lessie Earl Hayes, age 95 of Cookeville and formerly of Monterey, passed away Tuesday June 6, 2023. She was born November 2, 1927 in Monterey. Lessie was a trusted employee at the Bank of Monterey (One Bank) for a number of years. She was also a faithful member of Monterey First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Hayes; and parents, Winfred Donald Matheney and Littie Atkins Matheney. She was also preceded in death by siblings, Mable Claudean Delon, Mary Helen Matheney, Arnold Lee Matheney, Lucy Robinson, Winnifred Casey, William Douglas Matheney, Samuel D. Matheney, and Cecil Matheney.

She is survived by her son, Charles Philip Hayes and his wife Lisa of Silver Point, TN; granddaughter, Megan Rucker and her husband, Matt of Hermitage, TN; and nieces, Pamela Robinson Duer (Philip), Marcia Robinson Hutto, and Vicki Hayes Henley (Bob).

Private services are being planned for a later date.
