Memorial services for Mr. Herald Leon Mansfield Jr., 72, of Murfreesboro and formerly of Algood, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 31 at Algood United Methodist Church with Rev. Brent Davis officiating. The family will receive friends Friday from 1 p.m. until service time at the church. Mr. Mansfield died July 28, 2015 at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro, TN. He was born July 18, 1943 in Tullahoma, TN to the late Herald Leon Sr. and Katrina Clyde McCoin Mansfield. Mr. Mansfield was retired administrator at Community Care of Rutherford County. He previously served as consultant and administrator at the former Masters Health Care Center in Algood. Prior to his career in health care administration he was a deputy with the Putnam County Sherriff's Department. Mr. Mansfield served as member of the U.S. Army National Guard. He volunteered over 40 years with the Putnam County Rescue Squad and served on the Putnam County Commission. He was a member of Algood United Methodist Church and held various positions within the church. He is fondly remembered as gentle and kind man, having never met a stranger. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Laura Masters Mansfield (whom he married June 6, 1968 in Algood); three sons, Trey Mansfield of Murfreesboro, TN, Bob Mansfield of Clinton, TN, and Joe Mansfield of San Diego, CA; brother, Gerald Mansfield of Nashville; and granddaughter, Faith Mansfield. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Putnam County Rescue Squad.
